Guildford College Art student selected by UAL awarding body to exhibit their work at Origins Creatives 2024 in London this July

Guildford College Art student, Jenna Pickering, 18, has been selected to exhibit her work at Origins Creatives, taking place at the Mall Galleries in July.

Jenna’s submission, titled Connecting to one another – Fantasy Communication Cards, explores human connection and social constructs by creating a communicative tool to help visually and quickly display how people are feeling at any given time.

The tool aims for the user to wear accessible and interchangeable images conveying emotion, mood and feelings as brightly coloured laminated cards on a lanyard so that they are immediately visible to others in a social setting.

Jenna’s piece caught the attention of UAL Awarding Body’s curator, Charlie Levine, from amongst over 500 submissions.

Jenna’s Art tutor, Kat Baddeley said: “Jenna has demonstrated exceptional design and illustration skills throughout her time on our Foundation Diploma.

“She has worked incredibly hard and produced these beautiful designs that are inspired by helping young people communicate their emotions through visual communication tools.

“I am enormously proud that Jenna’s work has been chosen by Origins Creatives and think that this incredibly important piece deserves to be seen by a much wider audience.”

Origins Creatives is a free exhibition that is organised by UAL Awarding Body. This event offers a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts, critics, and industry professionals in the creative sector to discover original talent and to celebrate the dedication and hard work of young creatives from across the UK and internationally.
