This course is suitable for students with an interest in visual arts.
Our courses have a strong vocational emphasis and will enable you to progress to other courses in creative arts or media. You will benefit from subject-specialist teaching and excellent resources, including our full HD TV studio with green screen.
The course is multi-disciplinary, with an emphasis on practical experimentation. Students are introduced to a range of technical processes that includes:
- Photography
- Moving Image
- Animation
- Drawing
- Editing
- Research Skills
- Idea generation and creativity
If you are 16–19-years old and have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE Grade 4 (C) in English and maths, you’ll be required to retake these subjects, or to undertake Functional Skills, alongside your full-time programme.
Activate Learning is an approved centre for this UAL Awarding Body qualification: UAL Level 1 Award and Diploma in Art, Design and Media.

Entry requirements
You need to have 4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above including English and maths, with a keen interest & evidence in the subject (example of work or portfolio).
