The Travel and Tourism industry is a dynamic and fast growing sector accounting for over 2.1 million jobs in the United Kingdom. The course gives you the skills and knowledge to work in airports, airlines, tour operators, travel agencies, hotels or other accommodation, tourist information centres, tourist attractions, cruise line companies, holiday centres, conference or events organisations. We have great links with employers with whom we work to provide routes into employment. You will be taught by a team of lecturers with a high level of commercial knowledge and subject experience.
What you'll learn
An
excellent introduction to the exciting world of travel & tourism, the
course covers many aspects of the travel & tourism industry including
customer service skills, the structure of the UK travel industry, tour
operations, develop interpersonal skills, visitor attractions, retail travel
agency work, tourist information services, GDS booking system location of
worldwide tourist destinations & attractions.
How you'll learn and be assessed
The course is classroom based using a range of industry specific resources, lectures, industry speakers and off-site visits. Assessment is by written assignments, roleplays and an online multiple choice exam covering one unit.
Progression
Successful completion of the course will lead to progression onto Level 3 travel & Tourism
Entry requirements
Four GCSEs grade 3 (D) or above including English Language and maths.
Additional information
The course is preparing you for employment within the travel & tourism industry so therefore an industry uniform is worn on most days.
