Guildford College are delighted to be launching a Saturday morning art club for local teens starting in January 2021.
Activate Learning is partnering with the National Saturday Club to provide free-to-join clubs for 13-16-year-olds in Guildford who are keen to get into the world of art.
This will offer young people the chance to get creative at the new Saturday morning Art Club based at Guildford College.
The free classes start on 16 January 2021 and will run for 15 weeks. Members will be actively encouraged to explore, learn and develop their skills in art and will be offered use of industry-standard equipment available within the art department at Guildford College’s site at Stoke Road, Guildford.
Skills and processes explored will include a range of painting, drawing, photography, textiles, print making and media techniques, taught by a range of expert tutors.
There will also be opportunities for young people to network and take part in expert masterclasses and national events, enabling them to make new friends and grow their confidence.
For those who participate in the Saturday Art Club, their work will be showcased in a summer show and exhibitions annually in London. Each club plans its own section of the show.
The culmination of the year is a public exhibition of all club members’ work in the Embankment Galleries at London’s historic Somerset House which regularly receives over 3,000 visitors.
Students also get the chance to explore the capital’s world-renowned museums and galleries throughout the year.
