How to apply

The application process has changed, but we’re still here to help.

We’re delighted that you want to join us and we want to make the application process as straightforward as possible.

Things may have been a little different this year, but we’re still here to support you as move from school to college. This step-by-step guide will explain what you need to do to choose your course, apply to college and complete your enrolment in the summer.

If you are an international student, your application process will be slightly different. Visit our International website for full information on your application journey, including visas.

If you need any help completing your application form, one of our Advice and Admissions Team will be happy to help you. Please contact them on 0800 612 6008 or send an enquiry.

  • Make an application. Find a course and apply for it online, or you can use our PDF application form
  • If you choose to apply online, once you have chosen the course that you wish to study, please add it to your basket. You will then need to register or log in to proceed through your application.
  • Let us know about any specific support needs you may have.
  • We will then send you an email to confirm that we have received your application.
  • You will receive a call from the Admissions Team to discuss your application and any additional support needs.
  • If necessary, you will receive a further call from Learning Support or Student Support to find out how we can support you at college.
  • If you apply online, you can view the status of your application on the application portal.
  • You will receive a conditional offer by email to confirm the programme you have applied for and the entry requirements of that offer. These might be achieving certain grades, successfully passing an assessment, providing a portfolio of your work or taking part in an audition.
  • Your conditional offer may also include details of an alternative pathway programme that you might be eligible for if you do not meet the entry criteria.
  • Accept your place by email or text message.
  • You will receive a call from your tutor to welcome you to the College and discuss any questions you may have; this may be from a number you do not recognise so please look out for this. This is a really important step in the process of becoming a student with us and your first opportunity to engage with a member of the teaching team.
  • Once we have received your completed application form, we will be in touch with you regularly to let you know about all the exciting things happening at college and to support you in becoming an Activate Learning student in September.
  • Make sure you are financially prepared by investigating what financial support options might be available to you
  • Take part in activities run by each faculty, which might include induction programmes, summer projects or recommended reading.
  • Attend the New Student Welcome Day where you’ll get a chance to meet your tutor and classmates, have a look round the facilities and take part in some fun activities.
  • If you met the conditions of your offer great news!
  • If you didn’t meet the conditions or wish to change your plans don’t worry! You will know which course you might now be eligible for, or if you wish to change your plans give us a call or book on to a College Clearing appointment. This is a second chance at getting a place at college, by matching students with places we still have available.

You will receive an email that will contain a link to your online enrolment form.

You will need to click this link and enrol as soon as you receive your email. This email will also contain a link to our  How to enrol  page to support you through this process.

You must upload your exam results. If you are an applicant with a passport, which is non-UK you will also have to provide evidence of your residency status.
