Art and Design, Photography and Media UAL Level 1 Diploma

A first step into learning about the creative arts and media industries.

This course is suitable for students with an interest in visual arts.

Our courses have a strong vocational emphasis and will enable you to progress to other courses in creative arts or media. You will benefit from subject-specialist teaching and excellent resources, including our full HD TV studio with green screen.

The course is multi-disciplinary, with an emphasis on practical experimentation. Students are introduced to a range of technical processes that includes:

  • Photography
  • Moving Image
  • Animation
  • Drawing
  • Editing
  • Research Skills
  • Idea generation and creativity

If you are 16–19-years old and have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE Grade 4 (C) in English and maths, you’ll be required to retake these subjects, or to undertake Functional Skills, alongside your full-time programme.

You will learn about the wide range of jobs available within the sub sectors of art, craft, design, media and photography. You will also develop an understanding of the skills required to work in each sector.

This course is the UAL Level 1 Award and Diploma in Art, Design and Media.

You need to have 4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above including English and maths, with a keen interest & evidence in the subject (example of work or portfolio).
