Topics include: creative colouring, colour correction, consultation, creative cutting of women’s hair, create design skills, perm hair to create a variety of looks and hair extensions.
All 16-19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths or to undertake Functional Skills, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade C in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.
All those employed as hairdressers require a wide range of further skills for the progression to management and training of staff.
The College has a vibrant hairdressing salon open to the public. This course provides the opportunity to develop your creative skills, further your understanding of fashion and photography.

Progression
You could move on to a careers as a fashion stylist or work on the cruise ships.
Entry requirements
You should have achieved a Hairdressing Level 2 Diploma or equivalent, plus Maths and English Language at GCSE at grade 4 (grade C) or above. You must have undertaken work experience in a salon at Level 2 and now be employed part-time in a salon. You will need to have at least 88% attendance from the Level 2 course and maintain it on the Level 3 course.

Educational visits form an an important part of the course and cost approx £30. Other costs are approx uniform £60, kit £55 and course book £35 plus on line support.
